Chili is extremely popular in Texas, but one must always remember that real chili does not have beans! This dish combines both ground beef and chunks of delicious stew meat, with a little kick of spice to make everything nice. A perfect and simple dish for a cool autumn night or a winter evening.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (chuck works best)
1 lb beef stew meat, cut into bite size pieces.
1 can diced fire roasted tomatoes, drained
1 can tomato sauce
1 cup beef broth
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp ground cayenne pepper
1 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
Over medium-high brown the ground beef and beef stew meat. Drain the fat once browned.
Add the drained fire roasted tomatoes, the tomato sauce, and the beef broth.
Allow the mixture to come a boil, then reduce the heat to low.
Add the remaining ingredients and let the dish simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Serve hot and enjoy with a garnish of shredded cheese and sour cream.
